This course is designed to provide satellite and VSAT engineers the necessary information on how to plan and implement a VSAT network, based on customer requirements. Included in the program is a workshop comprising of VSAT site survey, installation and commissioning of a VSAT.
EXPECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Outline the framework of VSAT technology in the evolving context of satellite communication
- Describe the functionality of remote VSAT and Hub Master Control station components
- Trace the Signal flow path in the forward and reverse directions
- Examine the configurations of Front-end and Offset-fed antennas
- Compare different VSAT network implementations: One Way (narrow casting), Two way and Split- two way Implementation, Star and Mesh topologies
- Display understanding of different access schemes (FDMA, TDMA and CDMA) used in VSAT systems
- Outline the structure of a typical VSAT burst
- Investigate link budgets for one way and two way VSAT systems
- Conduct VSAT installation and commissioning process according to standard procedures
- Identify the different tools involved in carrying out the installation and commissioning procedures.
- Examine issues concerning VSAT network planning and implementation
On completion of this course, participants will be able to install, configure and commission a VSAT remote. Furthermore, participants will be able to estimate traffic estimates and interpret VSAT performance and SLAs.
